Colombian artist María Duque is inspired by the influence of digital media on painting, as well as the vibrancy and materiality of paint itself. Focusing on abstraction and composition, she creates preparatory sketches in Procreate to test format, shape and colour before bringing these drafts to life on canvas.
Her smooth backgrounds recall the virtual immateriality of our screens, while splashes of paint pull us back into the beauty of our energetic and vivacious physical world.
