Inspired by Native American design, this striking coloured print by Colombian artist Juana Gaviria is balanced and bold. Strips of colour are sliced by contrasting tones, giving this beautiful design a unique, shifting sense of movement.

“In this recent series, I draw inspiration from Native American patterns, particularly the rich designs of the Navajo people. The pattern used here, with overlapping zig zags, is particularly prevalent. Triangular, geometric forms successively change color to create a kinetic field.
I also incorporate elements from the Art Deco movement, a style known for its geometric forms, aerodynamic curves, and reliefs.
By blending these two aesthetics, I create abstract compositions that explore the balance between symmetry, geometric precision, and the containing space in which these forms exist. This allows me to merge tradition and modernity in a visually dynamic way."
