Ficciones para una postura presente
Natalia Castañeda is dedicated to documenting specific territories, in particular mountains and glaciers in Colombia, and a great deal of her visual research and sketches are created en plein air. By documenting sites of natural interest in landscape art prints such as Ficciones para una postura presente she captures an emotional cartography of the landscape.
Each artwork contains a universe and a story within itself, and a powerful and dynamic map of a natural world in flux. A beautiful and poignant statement artwork, be sure to hang this large horizontal print in a central location in your home.
“For me, the word glacial ‘bodies’ is key to understanding this particular type of territory. Glaciers are just like our own bodies; they wear down, they grow, they change.
Embracing this comparison helps us to begin to understand what’s happening to our glaciers on a worldwide level and what this means for the planet and humanity as a whole.”
