Inspired by the extended summer twilight, Rosal en el Verano captures Juan’s fascination for the new angles, depth, colours and textures created by the warm evening light.
“Rosal en el verano was created beneath the sun of the north, a very particular sun for me, one that gave me extended hours in the evening during which to paint.
These late sunsets aren’t a sensation we have in the tropics and it’s difficult for us to understand and appreciate a sunset that happens at 10pm, the unique quality and colour of the light.”
