It caught our attention because of its striking ornamentation, which gives it a unique character and reflects the taste of those who live there. The family living here built the house themselves – when we explained we wanted to paint features from their home their pride was palpable. Someone was recognising their hard work and dedication."

J&L Constructores
Artistic duo Jimmy Espinosa and Lina Prieto dedicate their artistic practice to preserving the visual memory of Colombia’s urban and popular culture. Known collectively as J&L Contructores, their depictions of the country’s changing environment capture everyday scenes and social dynamics that might otherwise pass below the radar. Their paintings of Bogotá’s domestic windows,
each protected by an intricately crafted grille, act as unconventional and sensitive portraits of a city and the inhabitants that make it thrive.
URBAN PAIR
Hope springs eternal in our urban print pair. A window's security grille is turned into a striking work of art and nature reclaims a barbed-wire fence in a visual poem created in praise of the urban and all its idiosyncrasies.
