Sí. Hay Helados. Barrio Lourdes
An inconspicuous window with a small advert for homemade ice cream tells a larger story of hard work and resourcefulness when times are tough. This contemporary art print by J&L Constructores pays homage to the drive and creativity that keeps Bogotá moving forwards and gives it its distinctive character.
A unique centrepiece for the living or dining room, this artwork is bound to spark intrigue and act as a reminder that a little ingenuity and impetus can go a long way.
"This work depicts a window used to advertise the sale of homemade ice cream from a house in a working-class neighbourhood in downtown Bogotá.
We wanted to preserve a memory of the daily 'hustle' that many homes resort to, generating informal sources of income to make ends meet.
It acknowledges the home as a multifunctional space that contributes to the family economy and the creativity of its inhabitants in the face of adversity."

J&L Constructores
Artistic duo Jimmy Espinosa and Lina Prieto dedicate their artistic practice to preserving the visual memory of Colombia’s urban and popular culture. Known collectively as J&L Contructores, their depictions of the country’s changing environment capture everyday scenes and social dynamics that might otherwise pass below the radar. Their paintings of Bogotá’s domestic windows,
each protected by an intricately crafted grille, act as unconventional and sensitive portraits of a city and the inhabitants that make it thrive.
BOGOTÁ PAIR
Warm oranges and reds contrasted with lush greens encapsulate the distinctive colour palette of Colombia's capital city, creating a visual love letter to Bogotá's everyday scenes.
