Monserrate is a distinctive piece of pastel wall art by J&L Constructores that finds its inspiration in the hand-painted signs that explain Colombia's bus routes for local and international travellers alike. The central feature of this particular print is Monserrate church, high up in the Andes mountain range surrounding Bogotá. Artistic duo Jimmy Espinosa and Lina Prieto dedicate their artistic practice to preserving the visual memory of Colombia’s urban and popular culture. Known collectively as J&L Contructores, their depictions of the country’s changing environment capture everyday scenes and social dynamics that might otherwise pass below the radar.
